RFS Board Member Huda Y. Zoghbi, MD Recipient of the 19th Annual March of Dimes Prize in Developmental Biology

RFS Board member Huda Y. Zoghbi, M.D., director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Institute at Texas Children's Hospital, an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and a professor in the departments of Pediatrics, Molecular and Human Genetics, Neurology and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine, is being recognized for her pioneering discoveries of the genetic basis of several diseases, particularly Rett Syndrome, a developmental autism-like disorder that strikes in early childhood, robbing affected children of motor, cognitive and social skills. 

The prize is a cash award of $250,000 and a silver medal in the design of the Roosevelt dime, honoring President Franklin D. Roosevelt, March of Dimes founder. In its 19-year history, the prize has been the crowning glory of a distinguished research career or a stepping stone on the path toward future honors for researchers.
